Datch Joins Dominion Energy Innovation Center 2023 Cohort of DEIC Accelerate Companies

The Dominion Energy Innovation Center (“DEIC”) announced today the ten climate tech focused startups that will make up the 2023 DEIC Accelerate cohort starting in June and running through October. Companies accepted into the accelerator will spend four months receiving mentorship and developing pilot opportunities with DEIC’s partner network, led by Dominion Energy.

“The goal,” said DEIC’s Executive Director Adam Sledd, “is to jumpstart the companies that will continue to make Virginia a leader in offering clean, reliable, and affordable energy.”

DEIC Accelerate’s 2023 cohort will mark the first time the program has expanded to ten companies since the program’s launch in 2020. Several companies from previous cohorts, including Richmond’s Linebird, are continuing to work with Dominion Energy.

“New technologies are driving our energy future and will accelerate our efforts to deliver sustainable solutions to the communities we serve,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer Mark Webb. “DEIC’s Accelerate program is a great platform for Dominion Energy to work with innovative startups that will help advance the future of clean, customer-centric energy.”

The companies in this year’s cohort come from around the United States and will spend four months working with DEIC and Dominion Energy staff to sharpen their business development plans and identify potential projects. Three of the ten are Virginia-based, and one is headquartered in Washington, DC.

The selection of Datch for the DEIC Accelerate’s 2023 cohort emphasizes Dominion Energy’s commitment to fostering innovation in the clean energy sector. By supporting startups like Datch, Dominion Energy is taking actionable steps towards achieving a more sustainable future.

Being part of the DEIC Accelerate’s 2023 cohort puts Datch in a prime position to explore sustainable AI solutions with the backing of Dominion Energy and DEIC. Datch will continue to fine-tune its offerings and expand its reach in the sustainable energy sector.

"Datch is incredibly excited to be part of the 2023 DEIC Accelerate cohort. We're looking forward to the mentorship, the opportunity to introduce AI to Dominion’s frontline operations, and above all, the chance to make a real impact in clean energy," said Datch CEO Mark Fosdike.

Datch has developed an AI platform that allows field workers to capture and access knowledge in real-time by simply using their voice. This user-friendly technology enables workers to streamline their documentation and data capture processes, thus reducing downtime, enhancing safety, and boosting overall productivity. The Datch platform is not only an impressive tech innovation, but also an essential tool in a world where climate-focused industries need to be as efficient as possible to meet their sustainability goals.

This is just the beginning for Datch. As the company moves forward in this partnership, there are high hopes for the impact its technology can have on the clean energy industry. The involvement of Datch in this cohort promises to bring exciting developments in clean energy technology, reinforcing Virginia's position as a leader in clean, reliable, and affordable energy.
